A 2-day intensive course for theatre and education workers

This fun, practical and intensive workshop is for people who wish to broaden their theatre-in-education and dramatherapy facilitation experience. Participants will gain hands-on knowledge in using a broad range of creative action methods, games and a variety of arts based activities. Sessions, in addition to being great fun, will be participative and will include the development of personal facilitation skills, good working practice and workshop organisation.
Cost for the 2-days is £165, which includes refreshments and resources. You will need to provide your own lunch, travel and accomodation. Fees payable in advance. Places limited.

The facilitators for this course are Dr Sue Jennings and Andy Hickson
Dr Sue Jennings is director of Rowan Studio and Rowan Studio Romania where she provides training programmes and opportunities for volunteers to work with people with special needs. She has over 20 books in print, the most recent is 'Creative Play and Drama with Adults at Risk' (Speechmark 2005) which is a core text for this course. She is currently performing 'The Wife of Bath' as a one woman show which has toured the South West. As one of the pioneers of dramatherapy in the UK she is constantly exploring the relationship between therapy and theatre. Sue works in Somerset as a supervisor and trainer.
Andy Hickson is Director of Actionwork UK and Course Director with Empowerment Kansai in Japan. He is also founder and Director of the I Power I Anti-Bullying Conference for Young People, the only event for young people of its kind. Andy has written extensively for the theatre, and has published books with Winslow Press, Speechmark and Routledge. He is a theatre Director and a Filmmaker. Andy is also a traveller and has wandered extensively around the world including Europe, Africa, Asia and has spent two years living in the Malaysian rainforest with the Temiar Aborigines. Andy has worked with ther DfES, British Council and the Anti-Bullying Alliance as well as schools across the country and abroad. He will be running national programmes for UK anti-bullying week (21st – 25th November 2005) and produces a wide range of events for young people. Professional filmmaking projects with young people are a speciality.
