I Power I

Bleadon is a small beautiful village of under 500 houses. It is 2 miles from Weston Super Mare, 25 miles from Bristol and 150 miles from London. Bleadon rests on the West Coast of England, where you can see the sun setting every day.

The village of Bleadon dates from Saxon times and rests in a naturally sheltered area above the salt marshes.

The investigation into the inhabitants of an excavation site in Bleadone was widened to include today's living community in Bleadon. Volunteers from the village gave blood samples so that their DNA could be analysed for matching sequences in the skeleton found at the Bleadon Excatvation site.

The results of the search for Bleadon man's descendants were revealed in the village hall. When the reconstructed face was shown to the villagers they immediately recognised the features. The Iron Age man bore a striking resemblance to one of the men in the village who actually turned out to be one of the five direct descendants out of the forty-eight tested. (One of the women did not seem to be too pleased about discovering her fearsome-looking relation).

Bleadon is nestled away from Weston-Super-Mare over Bleadon Hill and is surrounded by the Mendip hills and in the distance the Quantocks. Most places in Bleadon have a view of the sea.
